2016 China LED Screen Industry Output Value Break Through $75 Billion

On Dec. 30th, 2016, CSA Research(China SoLED State Lighting Alliance) released the “2016 China Semiconductor Lighting Industry Development White Paper” (hereinafter referred to as “White Paper”) at Beijing. China’s semiconductor lighting industry overall output value first time breakthrough 500 billion yuan(about $75 billion), industry scale reached 521.6 billion yuan, increased 22.8% comparing to 2015.

The LED screen industry industry have go out of the declining tendency of rises before inhibition. In the first half of 2016, LED screen industry continued the downturn in 2015; until the second half year, the market demand stimulated the LED screen industry with Rio International Olympic Games, European Cup, America’s Cup and other major sports events and Domestic G20 Hangzhou summit and other activities held all over the world.

At the beginning of 2016, LED industry estimated output value of 105 billion yuan, a slight increase of 3.4% compared to last year. Domestic LED screen rental and sale companies expand the international market, in the small pixel LED screen, outdoor patch market, transparent LED screen and other segments driven, the industry growth rate is much higher than the 2015 level of 2.65%, close to 8%. Despite the bid farewell to the era of double-digit growth, its growth is also very impressive comparing in the LED industry-wide. More and more LED screen rental and sale companies are putting more and more efforts in small pixel LED screen’s R & D work.

From the sales point of view, the export situation in 2016 significantly improved throughout the year. It is expected to achieve export-oriented production value of 60 billion yuan, mainly due to international sports events, small pixel LED screens, transparent LED screen and other new products exports this year. Due to the improvement of LED screen manufacturing technology, as well as price cut of the LED chip and other LED devices in the first half year, normal LED screen increase fatigued, coupled with domestic outdoor advertising market clean-up, other well-known media companies closed down and other reasons, LED screen growth in the outdoor advertising market is limited. With the outbreak of small pixel LED screen in 2016, it has become a new growth point of LED screen applications.

It is obvious that small pixel LED screen is becoming a source of revenue and profit guarantee to many LED screen rental and sale companies. Small pixel LED screen market maturity and outbreak led to the rise of commercial LED display applications. Small pixel LED screens have gradually replaced traditional LCD, DLP and other traditional large-screen in more and more displaying market.
