The IP grade system was draft out by International ELectro Technical Commission (IEC). It is a standard to divide LED screen’s dust-proof, waterproof, moisture proof ability, outer elements proof ability and other protective abilities. The outer elements here including tools, human’s fingers (cannot get in touch with electrical elements inside the screens). The followings are some basic IP grade dividing ways of outdoor rental LED display screens.
IP grade is made up by two numbers. The first number indicates the dust-proof and outer elements proof ability; the second number indicates the water proof and moisture proof ability of outdoor rental LED display screens. The larger the number is, the higher protection level will be. As for the LED screen users, when the LED screen rental service providers told you the IP level of there screens, you can have a brief knowledge about their screen’s protection level.
1.The first number:
0: indicates that there is no protection;
1: indicates that it can avoid large solids from goes into the outdoor rental LED display screens;
2: indicates that it can avoid medium size solids;
3: indicates that it can avoid small size solids;
4: indicates that it can avoid larger than 1mm solids;
5: indicates that it can avoid harmful dust accumulation;
6: indicates that is can avoid all dust from getting into the LED screens.
Normally, most outdoor LED screens are now using the 6th level protection ways. Almost all the outdoor screen rental service providers’ LED screens are all IP65 degree or higher. Normally, the LED screen rental service provider will tell you the IP level of the screens.
2. The second number:
0: indicates that there is no waterproof ability;
1: indicates that if a drop of water dropped on the surface of LED screen, it will not damage the screen;
2: indicates that, when the LED scree’s outer shell inclines to 15 degree, water drops will not damage the screen;
3: Indicates that water or rains drops onto the outer shell with 60 degree angle will not damage the screen;
4: indicates that water splash from any angle will not damage the screen;
5: indicates that the screens surface can be washed by water;
6: indicates that can be applied into a ship’s cabin;
7: indicates that the outdoor rental LED display screens can be put into the water for short while (1 minute);
8: indicates that it can be placed in the water with pressure for a long time.
Let’s take Glux Visual Effects Tech’s outdoor rental LED display screens as an example. Glux’s outdoor LED screens are with IP65 level, then it indicates that, the screen can avoid all dust from goes into the screen and can be washed by water.
As for normal audio visual events, IP65 degree outdoor rental LED display screens are enough. But if the screens are applied into extreme environment (in the water, or a place where many dust will generate), it is better to choose higher protection level LED screens. Before choosing outdoor screens for your event, ask the outdoor screen rental service provider about the screen’s IP level.
